France has been dealt with another huge blow ahead of the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar as one of their attackers has been ruled out of the competition. RB Leipzig winger Christopher Nkunku has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury in France training.
The former PSG winger twisted his leg awkwardly when challenging Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for the ball during Tuesday’s session. He quickly signalled he was in pain and departed the training field to receive treatment.
The France national team released an official statement on their website to confirm Nkunku being ruled out of the competition.
“Injured in training, Christopher Nkunku must give up participating in the World Cup. The whole group shares Christopher’s sadness and wishes him a speedy recovery,” wrote the national team in a statement.
The French winger is set to be replaced with Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani
