Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has arrived in Ghana for holidays following the World Cup break
The 22-year-old failed to switch nationalities ahead of the tournament despite talks with the Ghana Football Association
Nketiah has represented England at junior levels and remains eligible to play for Ghana at senior level
Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah was met by a huge crowd at the Kotoko International Airport after arriving in Ghana on Tuesday night.
The English-born Ghanaian is in the country for holidays due to the World Cup break.
In a video posted on social media, the player was spotted with the Ghana flag around his neck while a group of cultural dancers welcomed him with the ‘adowa’ dance.
Nketiah has been in talks with the Ghana Football Association over a nationality switch but reportedly decided against going to the World Cup in the eleventh hour.
Having been born in England, Nketiah has played for the youth teams of the Three Lions and hold the record as the top scorer at the U21 level.
However, he remains eligible to represent the Black Stars of Ghana due to his parents, who are both from Ghana.
And although he is not part of Ghana’s squad for the World Cup, he could still make a decision on playing for the West African giants.
The Black Stars are in Abu Dhabi preparing for the World Cup which begins in four days time.
