Southampton fired Ralph Hasenhuttl after the Saints were defeated 4-1 by Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The Austrian is the fifth head coach to be fired just three months into the season, following Scott Parker, Thomas Tuchel, Bruno Lage, and Steven Gerrard.
The firing of the 55-year-old manager, who was apparently on the verge of quitting during the month of October, will not raise many eyebrows in light of his team’s poor performance against the Newcastle Magpies, which left them 18th in the league and in the relegation zone.
The young Southampton squad displayed moments of brilliance and certainly should have scored early in the game, but for the majority of the contest they were confused and inexperienced.
Despite not playing at full strength, Newcastle was able to dismantle the opposition, scoring four or more goals for the fourth time in seven games.
The Saints have yet to officially announce Hasenhuttl’s firing, but The Athletic’s Dan Sheldon claims he’s out, with the club opting to look for his replacement over the World Cup break
