Manchester United could table David de Gea a new contract but only with reduced terms, according to reports.

He is also one of just three players in the current team to have won a Premier League title, sitting in the company of Jones and Cristiano Ronaldo. Reports suggest he is the highest paid goalkeeper in England but the shot stopper’s deal runs out next summer.
United are yet to decide whether to trigger 31-year-old De Gea’s 12-month extension with Erik ten Hag keen to build a squad for the future. The Athletic reports that the club could instead offer him a new deal but with reduced wages as they spy a new long-term replacement.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato claims Tottenham are rivalling United for the signature of Roma striker Tammy Abraham. Former Reds boss Jose Mourinho has revived the England international’s career in Italy after a frustrating end to his time at Chelsea.
He netted 27 times last term as Roma lifted their first European title – the inaugural Europa Conference League. The 25-year-old’s turnaround has attracted the interests of those at Old Trafford, it is reported, as well as Daniel Levy at Spurs.
Speaking in May amid his good form, Mourinho said he was expecting calls from Premier League clubs for Abraham down the line.
“I don’t think he wants to – but if he wants to go back to England he just needs to click his fingers and I’m so happy for him,” he said. “He’s back in the national team and is loved in Rome.”
