Gary Neville heaped praise on Arsenal after their 3-2 victory over Liverpool in their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Bukayo Saka’s brace and Gabriel Martinelli’s strike saw Arsenal return to the top of the table and secure their first victory over Liverpool since July 2020.
Neville said Arsenal ‘outran and outplayed Liverpool’ and praised Mikel Arteta’s side for going ‘neck to neck with Manchester City this season’.
Speaking after the game, Neville said: ‘Huge day for Arsenal, it was a big test, and they have come through it in the second half. They outran Liverpool and outplayed them.
‘He [Mikel Arteta] is so relieved, I was worried about him at the end of last season when they didn’t qualify for the Champions League, thinking it could be fatal for him.

‘But the recruitment in the summer has been good and the start to the season has been electric. They are going neck to neck with Man City at the moment, which is some achievement in itself.’
Martinelli opened the scoring for Arsenal in the opening minute of the game after latching onto Martin Odegaard’s through pass.
Darwin Nunez clawed a goal back for Liverpool but their lead didn’t last for long. Saka found the back of the net in the 45th minute.

He then added to his tally from the penalty spot before Roberto Firmino scored for Liverpool to end the game 2-3 in favour of the Gunners.
As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s side now sit in 10th place – 14 points behind the table-toppers Arsenal.
