Liverpool want to begin contract talks with No 1 goalkeeper Alisson when he returns from his Brazil duties at the end of the summer, according to reports.

Alisson is currently away with the Brazil squad preparing for their World Cup qualifying clashes against Ecuador and Paraguay, before his country get ready to host the Copa America – which begins on June 13.

And according to the BBC, the Reds are keen to tie Alisson – whose current deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2024 – down to a new contract when he is back at Anfield.

The report claims that the Brazilian goalkeeper is just one of several stars that Liverpool want to begin negotiations with over new deals.

Since signing from Roma in 2018 in a £67.5million deal, becoming the world’s most expensive goalkeeper at the time, he has not looked back at Anfield.

The 28-year-old has proved integral to Liverpool’s success in recent years, playing a key role in their Champions League triumph in 2019, as well as starring in their first-ever Premier League title win the season after.

The campaign just gone proved to be a rather difficult one for Jurgen Klopp’s men as they relinquished their Premier League crown to Manchester City.

But they still managed to rescue their season with an impressive late burst into the Champions League for next season, after securing a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on the final day of the campaign.

And they have Alisson largely to thank for that after the Brazilian scored an incredible last-gasp winner at West Brom in their third remaining match to keep their European bid on track.

Alisson’s header clinched the club’s goal of the season award and he became the sixth keeper ever to score in the Premier League.

Furthermore, Liverpool’s back-up goalkeeper Adrian is close to agreeing terms on a contract extension at Anfield.

The 34-year old had interest from Real Betis in Spain while Liverpool had sounded out potential alternatives but he is now ready to commit to another season as understudy to Alisson.

Adrian lost his place as Alisson’s deputy when  Klopp handed 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher a run of games in December.

However, Adrian kept a clean sheet when he was recalled for the Premier League win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in February.

Liverpool are prepared to let Kelleher go out on loan next season, recognising that the 22-year-old needs a run of regular games to kick on.
