Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have granted five Nigeria-eligible teenagers the opportunity to take part in some training session with the club’s first team during their penultimate workout before taking to the pitch against Brighton & Hove on Sunday, May 23.

The players that were involved in the training session held at London Colney on Friday include: Folarin Balogun, Arthur Okonkwo, Miguel Azeez, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Mazeed Ogungbo.

Okonkwo seem to be the next in position to fill the vacuum of Arsenal’s second choice goalkeeper Mathew Ryan, as the Austrian goalkeeper is forbidden to face his parent club because of the loan agreement between Arsenal and Brighton & Hove. Apart from 18-year old Azeez, none of the aforementioned players has been included in a matchday squad for a Premier League game.

If these Nigeria-eligible players are able to make an appearance against Brighton & Hove. Azeez, Balogun, Butler-Oyedeji, Ogungbo and Okonkwo will wear the number 66, 38, 67, 73 and 53 respectively. But Arteta may not grant the teenagers their debut as he is likely to name his strongest possible squad against the Seagulls, with hope that the Gunners still have a remote chance of qualifying for next season’s Europa Conference League.
