France international and young football talent, William Saliba was astonishing yesterday for Mikel Arteta led Arsenal team in their first league game of the new English Premier League campaign away from home against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park.

The 21 year old prolific and versatile defender was solid as the heart of the back line which was a continuation of his incredible run of form in the pre-season games, following his arrival at the club after a fulfilled season loan spell at Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1.

The French Ligue 1 Young Player of the season in the last campaign had a fantastic debut for the Gunners with 100% take-ons completed and 100% aerial duels won coupled with a top notch pass accuracy.

First half goal from Gabriel Martinelli with an assist from fellow debutant, Oleksandr Zinchenko gave the visitor the lead going into the half time break which ended one nil before they were able to double the lead in the second half courtesy of an own-goal from Marc Guehi, which ended the game two goals to nil at full time.

After the game, William Saliba with his great influx of delivery was named as the winner for the Man of the Match award which was a well deserved one.

Consequent to been given the award, William Saliba could not hide his feeling and excitement alongside satisfaction with his dream debut when he was asked about his thoughts.

“I have waited a long time for this to come to pass and become a reality and now I am so happy and hungry for more”.
