In the wake of Kylian Mbappe’s shocking last-minute switch to snub Real Madrid and stay in Paris, Luka Modric has assured fans that he won’t be doing the same.

Modric, 36, is due to become a free agent this summer after a decade in the Spanish capital but insisted he will stay at the Bernabeu, ruling out any possibility of an Mbappe-style U-turn.
Mbappe stunned the Spanish giants on Saturday by agreeing a new three-year deal at PSG worth over £650,000 a week, despite initially pushing to join Madrid earlier this year.
In a light-hearted interview with COPE, Modric made no secret about his allegiance to Real Madrid and laughed off suggestions from the reporter that he might ‘do like Mbappe’ and change his mind.
One reason the veteran could be delaying contract negotiations is to avoid any unnecessary distraction ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Croatian played a key role in the final against Liverpool four years ago, helping Real Madrid triumph 3-1 in Kyiv.

In a bid to lure Mbappe away from his hometown, the Spanish giants were reportedly prepared to match the deal offered by PSG.
But the French international ultimately decided to commit to another three years in Paris and instantly followed it up with a hat-trick against Metz on Saturday.
Following Mbappe’s last-minute switch to remain in the French capital, La Liga has since filed a complaint to UEFA, claiming PSG ‘threaten the economic sustainability of European football’.
