Higuain’s father had previously said in an interview that his son would retire at the end of this year.

But Higuain denied it: “It was his misunderstanding of me, I didn’t tell him at any point about it, he expressed it badly, it could happen. But it has nothing to do with the situation, I am focused on the club and on fulfilling my contract. When it’s time to retire, if I make that decision, it’s only going to be me and nobody else.”

“It is true that I am getting closer to retirement but it is not in my mind at the moment, I just want to fulfil my contract and at the end of the year I will sit down with the club and we will see what is the best decision. Now I feel good and I want to clarify that.”
The Argentine striker has scored two goals and made one assist in five games this season.
