Pep Guardiola says that defender Oleksandr Zinchenko will be ready to play in the second leg of Manchester City’s Champions League round of 16 tie against Sporting on Wednesday, despite the continuing Russian invasion of his native Ukraine.

Zinchenko captained the side in the FA Cup fifth round win over Peterborough United last week and could feature again when City host Sporting.

“Yeah, but he’s ready. Of course, it’s not an easy period for him, absolutely not. But, I think he will be ready, ready just in case he has to play,” said Guardiola on Tuesday.
City will carry a commanding 5-0 lead over the defending Portuguese champions into the second leg at Etihad Stadium.
