Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is not convinced that PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa is the answer to his side’s problems at left wing-back, according to reports.

The Blues are looking to strengthen this position in the current transfer window after Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury last month.

Kurzawa has been identified as a possible option, and it was recently revealed that Chelsea have held talks with PSG over signing the 29-year-old.

However, Tuchel is unsure whether Kurzawa would be the right fit for his team, as reported by Goal.

Kurzawa, who has worked under Tuchel before, has made 153 appearances for PSG during his seven-year spell at the club.

He has fallen down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes this term, though, featuring just once across all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

With Tuchel seemingly not keen on the out-of-favour left-back, Chelsea may have to turn their attention elsewhere in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

As things stand, a lot of the burden has fallen on Marcos Alonso’s shoulders in recent weeks to cover the left flank, but he is likely to need assistance in the coming months.

Chelsea are still involved in four competitions, plus the Club World Cup takes place in February.

The Spanish international had a difficult outing on Saturday when he regularly came off second-best against Raheem Sterling during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.

Chelsea have already taken some action by recalling Kenedy from his loan spell at Flamengo, which could allow Tuchel to give Alonso a breather soon.

However, the Brazilian winger has not played for the Premier League outfit since 2018, and it seems likely that Tuchel will want to bring in further reinforcements to support Alonso in the near future.
