United have agreed a deal to re-sign Ronaldo from Juventus, with the Portuguese star set to lead the line for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

However, United have no intention of selling Cavani before the transfer window closes, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

Ronaldo had seemed set to join rivals Manchester City but will now re-join United in a £19.4million move.

Cavani has yet to play for United so far this season having been given an extended break following his involvement with Uruguay at the Copa America and a subsequent personal issue.

Towards the end of last season Cavani, 34, signed a one-year contract extension with United.

During his first campaign at the club Cavani scored 17 goals in 39 games across all competitions.

Ronaldo’s return is likely to push Cavani down the pecking order but it is possible that the two experienced forwards could play together at times.

Cavani is back in training with United and could return to the squad for the game away to Wolves on Sunday.
