Andros Townsend has said on talkSPORT that Bukayo Saka should leave Arsenal for Manchester City if he gets the chance.

The outgoing Crystal Palace winger believes that if City make an offer to Arsenal, then the winger should leave.

Townsend said on talkSPORT when asked if Saka should move to City if an offer came in: “Yeah, I would say. Man City is a different level. No disrespect to Arsenal. Obviously I am not their biggest fan, but Man City is a step-up. If that offer comes in, of course, you have to, you have to.”

Now, let’s make one thing clear.

It was a hypothetical question asked on the show to Townsend.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger was not actually urging Saka to leave.

What Townsend was saying was that if Pep Guardiola’s City come for the 19-year-old England international, then he should make the switch.

Another thing that we should make clear is that there are no credible reports that City want to sign Saka, who is a very versatile footballer and has played as as a winger, wing-back and central midfielder.

It was – let’s reiterate – a purely hypothetical question.

City are a wealthy club and have just won the Premier League title.

Manager Guardiola is not going anywhere, and if Saka does well again next season and Arsenal struggle, then City could well decide to make an offer.

For now, Arsenal fans need not worry about the future of Saka.

After all, the teenager seems happy at Arsenal and is playing regularly in the first team.

City have a strong squad, and although Saka is very talented, it is unlikely that he will get to play week in and week out.
