Legendary Brazilian footballer, Dani Alves who is rated one of the most successful and decorated defenders of all time, and once again, the former Barcelona right back has helped his new club win their first major trophy for the past eight years.

Dani Alves and his Brazilian side, Sao Paulo defeated Palmeiras 2-0 on Sunday, May 23, 2021 to win their first Paulista State Championship since 2005. And on the other hand, it was Sao Paulo’s first major trophy since 2008 when they won the Brazilian league.

The happy and excited Dani Alves took to his official Instagram page to share photos as he lifted the trophy after their victory on Sunday. In one of his posts, he wrote: “You thought I wasn’t coming, right? Alright, you have a right to be who you are and I have a duty to be better everyday.

Tricolor Family at party. Thank you to all who never disappoints. Ahhh, and all the children who didn’t see S Saoo Paulo win, enjoy a lot, is it good?”

A long shot from Luan deflected in off Felipe Melo after 36 minutes and then Luciano doubled their lead with a neat finish from close in the 77th minute of the crucial encounter.

And with this important victory, it has marked the beginning of a new era under Argentine coach, Hernan Crespo. The former Argentina international was appointed Sao Paulo FC coach in February 2021, and soon turned things around for a squad that came under severe criticism and attack from fans after giving up a seven-point lead and slumping to fourth place in last year’s Brazilian league.

And Dani Alves who returned to his home country of Brazil and joined Sao Paulo in 2019 has been named as an integral member of the team under Hernan Crespo. Already, Dani Alves has made about 70 appearances for Sao Paulo since 2019, and has scored a total of eight (8) goals.
